A

t least six female students died and several others were injured on Monday after fire broke out at a girls’ hostel located in Saddar area of Rawalpindi.

The hostel was filled with smoke following the fire, police said. The fire brigade team reached the scene and kickstarted the rescue efforts. PRCS Volunteers, First Aiders, and Staff immediately reached the place of fire and started rescuing students. Critical patients were immediately shifted to hospitals by mobilizing Red Crescent Ambulances.

Six girls, Farah Naz, Iqra Naheed, Sobia, Huma Rasheed, Naveeda Mazhar and Atiya have died due to the fire, hospital sources told.

As many as 150 students were present in the hostel when the fire broke out, according to reports.
