PRCS provides food rations, NFIs to AJK LoC affected families
In the wake of intense firing and shelling of non-military targets at the Line of Control (LoC) resulting in human casualties and damage to property, Pakistan Red Crescent Society has reached to over 500 affected families with food, Non-Food Items (NFIs) and medicines. PRCS National Headquarters has dispatched first aid boxes and kits besides detailing six ambulances to carry the dead and injured to hospitals.
Chairman PRCS Dr Saeed Elahi directed all the officers to remain on high alert to deal with the unforeseen circumstances. He said that Society is well prepared to ensure rescue and relief services in befitting manner in hour of need.
Dr Saeed Elahi said that PRCS is in close coordination with all the authorities to ensure prompt emergency responses like first aid, food relief, restoring family links and mine risk awareness.
Secretary General PRCS Khalid Bin Majeed said PRCS has provided 500 food packages, medicines to affected families of LoC. 200 food packages were distributed among affected families in Muzaffarabad and Jhelum Valley, 200 in Kotli and 50 food packages each in Poonch and Bhimber districts of AJK. In addition to it, PRCS has also provided Non-Food Items (NFIs) containing 500 kitchen sets, 1500 blankets and 200 mattresses among the affected families.
He said a 24/7 Control Room has been set up by PRCS to monitor the situation beside, PRCS NHQ has dispatched 80 first aid boxes and 12 first aid kits to PRCS AJK State Branch for an efficient and early emergency response. PRCS has activated its AJK Branch Disaster Response and First Aid teams with pool of volunteers.
