PRCS programmes and activities cover a wide range of issues,
encompassing disaster management, health care, humanitarian
values and various development programmes to support poor
and distressed people. In recent years, the PRCS has made
impressive progress in developing its organizational capacity.
It is a well-respected infrastructure in the country. It enjoys
support and is a valuable partner of the Government and other
pertinent agencies operating in Pakistan. PRCS is represented
in each of the four provinces and has a network of district
branches in 85 of 125 districts of Pakistan including the
RC branch in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the Federal Capital.
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society has recently established
a Regional Branch in Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA)
and Northern Areas (NAs). PRCS has approximately 5000 paid
staff, 120,000 volunteers and some 35,000 members nation-wide.
PRCS has more or less well developed branch networks, some
of which are financially independent of National Headquarters
and raise their own funds through a variety of activities.
All efforts are made to raise fund through Indigenous sources.
PRCS Constitution and its Rules revision process started in
2002 in consonance with the Federation Guideline for National
Society Statutes. Representatives of PRCS Governance and Management
from all levels actively participated in this process and
agreed upon the draft. Draft of PRCS Constitution and its
Rules is under consideration of the Managing Body. PRCS has
now developed its three years Roll-on-Plan through a consultative
and participatory process.
Over the last three years, considerable human resource development
has begun in the form of regular workshops and participation
of staff and volunteers in country, regional and international
training events. Further efforts, however, are needed to develop
effective management, development and mobilization strategies,
to increase skills and professionalism of Red Crescent staff
and volunteers and to increase gender equality and awareness
at all levels of the Society’s activities.
PRCS standardized the financial procedures and systems at
National & Provincial levels. The objectives behind this
effort were to improve the financial management at National
and Provincial levels and to comply with relevant national
& international statutory obligations. Computer hardware
was provided to Provincial Branches. Improvement in Financial
Management System of PRCS is being reflected through transparent
financial statements, financial reporting, proper budgeting
and effective inventory management system of the PRCS.
National Fundraising and Marketing Strategy is devised in
the pursuit of thematic sustainability and substantial projection
of the work done by Pakistan Red Crescent Society. The Marketing
and Fundraising department came in to being with an explicit
mandate ensuring;
• Inter & Intra Organizational Synergy
• Projection of thematic interventions
• Securing Grants for core and peripheral themes (Institutional
Fundraising)
• Cultivating the sense of belongingness in masses and
tapping on public fundraising
• Transparency (flow of grants)
• Evangelism in donor agencies
