PRCS Situation Update #8: Expanding Humanitarian Response in Tirah and Kurram
22 March, 2026
Pakistan Red Crescent Society
In January 2026, rising security concerns and internal conflict in Tirah Valley (Khyber) and Kurram districts forced many families to abandon their homes in search of safety. Displaced families temporarily relocated to safer areas such as Bara and Peshawar, residing with relatives, in rented housing, or informal settlements.
This sudden displacement created urgent humanitarian needs, including access to food, healthcare, clean water, and hygiene support.
In response, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), supported by Movement partners including the Norwegian Red Cross, Turkish Red Crescent, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), has activated emergency response mechanisms to provide comprehensive assistance to vulnerable populations in Tirah and Kurram.
