PRCS Situation Report #1: Monitoring Return Movements of Pakistanis from Iran
15 April, 2026
Since late February 2026, the humanitarian situation along the Pakistan–Iran border has been shaped by sustained population movements, with thousands of Pakistani nationals — including pilgrims, laborers, traders, and residents — returning home through the Taftan and Gabd border points. More than 7,000 returnees have been recorded since 28 February 2026, reflecting ongoing movements linked to the broader Middle East crisis and its impacts.
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), through its Restoring Family Links (RFL) program and in coordination with Movement partners, has been actively monitoring these movements and compiling regular operational updates. These reports are triangulated with IOM data to inform evidence-based, context-specific interventions.
Capacity strengthening efforts, including the planned RFL in Emergencies training, will prepare volunteers for strategic deployment at Taftan and Gabd to enhance frontline RFL services, prevent family separation, restore contact, and provide information and referral support in line with Family Links Network standards.
