Introduction

The Livelihood Department aims to play a pivotal role in addressing the aftermath of natural disasters, particularly focusing on relief and rehabilitation of disaster affected communities, primarily flood affectees. Recognizing the dire need for sustainable recovery, the department has initiated a comprehensive program aimed at providing long-term support to flood-affected communities. Our Objectives

The primary objective of the Livelihood Department’s program is to alleviate the socio-economic impact of floods on vulnerable communities across Pakistan (eight districts across Sindh, Punjab, KP and Balochistan). Floods have consistently wreaked havoc on livelihoods, rendering families destitute and eroding their ability to support themselves. The program seeks to empower beneficiaries by enabling them to engage in productive economic activities. By equipping them with sustainable livelihood options, the program also hopes to reduce their vulnerability to future flood-related disasters.

Goal 1

Promoting Microenterprise Initiatives through Loader Cart (Motorcycle) Distribution among Select Beneficiaries.

Goal 2

Enhancing Agricultural Sustainability through Livestock (Buffalo) Provision among Select Beneficiaries.

Our Geographic Coverage

Our flood response program extends its outreach across multiple provinces, strategically targeting the most affected regions. In Sindh, we are actively present in Larkana, Khairpur, Shikarpur, KSK, and Dadu. Balochistan’s Jaffarabad is another focus area, along with DG Khan in Punjab and DI Khan in KP. This broad geographical coverage ensures that our assistance reaches those in dire need across diverse landscapes.

Our Demographic Coverage

Within each district, our program meticulously identifies and supports five flood-affected communities. The selection process prioritizes the most vulnerable groups, including women at risk, persons with disabilities, marginalized communities, and those with high dependency. With 19 beneficiaries earmarked under program goals 1 and 2, our approach ensures a targeted and impactful response that addresses the specific needs of diverse demographics.
