Our Introduction
In the wake of decades-long armed clashes and their enduring impact on Pakistan, addressing the devastating consequences of these conflicts has become an urgent priority. These clashes have not only claimed more than 70,000 lives but have also left a lingering shadow in areas where direct confrontations occurred between state law enforcement agencies and non-state actors. The repercussions have been profound, affecting individuals, communities, and the environment. Our mission is to mitigate the damage and rebuild the lives of those affected.
Our Goal
The primary objective of the RASB Program is to enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities to explosive hazards in targeted areas of Pakistan. This involves education, awareness, and proactive measures to reduce the risks associated with unexploded ordnance (UXO) and explosive remnants of war (ERW).
Our Outreach
Our program operates in multiple regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Merged Areas, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. We are active in districts such as Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Swat, Dir Lower, Kurram, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Bhimber, Kotli, Poonch, Haveli, Jhelum Valley, and Neelum.
Our Achievements
Over the years, the RASB Program has achieved significant milestones
Awareness
We have conducted over 42,000 awareness sessions, reaching more than one million at-risk individuals and communities. These sessions focus on educating people about safer behavior, UXO recognition, and risk mitigation.
Information Dissemination
We have distributed over 409,000 printed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and used various media channels to convey safer behavior messages to at-risk individuals and communities.
Success Stories
We have distributed over 409,000 printed Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials and used various media channels to convey safer behavior messages to at-risk individuals and communities.
Community Involvement
More than 500 Community Focal Persons have been trained to arrange sessions, refer victims of explosive remnants, and act as a bridge between communities and line departments. These individuals play a vital role in relief operations during disasters.
Victim Support
We have identified and contacted over 700 victims of explosive remnants, providing physical rehabilitation and financial support through collaboration with governmental and non-governmental organizations.
Way Forward
Looking ahead, the RASB Program remains dedicated to its mission. We will continue our efforts to raise awareness, educate communities, and support those affected by explosive hazards. Our goal is to create safer environments, prevent accidents, and ultimately reduce the risks associated with unexploded ordnance and explosive remnants of war in Pakistan.
