Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari Assumes Charge as Chairperson Pakistan Red Crescent Society

ISLAMABAD: Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari assumed the charge of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) as Chairperson on Monday. He has 22 years of experience in the corporate and healthcare sector.

Soon after his arrival at the PRCS National Headquarters, Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari held meetings with the management and officers of the National Society. Secretary General briefed the new chairperson in detail on the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, mandate and countrywide programs, interventions and operations of PRCS and assured him of full cooperation and assistance.

Mr. Shahid Ahmed Laghari appreciated the role of the PRCS in mitigating the suffering of the most vulnerable. He said the PRCS was a national humanitarian organization having won international acclaim and recognition.

He stressed the need for increased commitment and dedication to help the vulnerable in a befitting manner. Honorable Chairman said that floods have caused a lot of destruction in Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and South Punjab. He instructed all departments to expedite efforts for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation of the recent flood-hit population.

He also inspected all departments of the Red Crescent and participated in the online meeting of the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC).
